  • 2012 Annual Meeting and Education Event a Success

    Over 200 members and students gathered at the Newton Marriott on May 6, 2012

    We Skyped with the Massage Therapy Foundation Board of Trustees, and acknowledged their hard work with our 2012 Distinguished Service award and pledged our annual $10,000 donation. Ruth Werner and the Board recognized and thanked the Mass Chapter for all the support in the last year and want you to save the date for the Third International Research Conference that is taking place in Boston, April 2013.

  • Summary of Legislative and Regulatory Activities in 2011 by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association

    On the legislative front, the AMTA-MA has filed legislation to address issues that our enabling legislation from 2006 did not address.  The AMTA-MA filed legislation, House Bill 2688, clarifies the definition of “massage”, tightens up the restrictions against the use of electronic means, establishes clearer boundaries for participating in sporting or charitable events and addresses the issue of using kinesio tape.  To that end, the AMTA-MA met with various legislative leaders and members of the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, where our legislation was initially heard, and testified at the public hearing on the same.

  • AMTA Massachusetts Chapter Announces 2012 Student Scholarship Award

    AMTA MA Chapter President Mary White is pleased to announce the first annual Student Scholarship Award.

    Massage students living in Massachusetts and attending an accredited program may apply for the $1000 scholarship starting immediately,  through April 6, 2012. Winner will be announced at the AMTA MA Chapter Annual Meeting on May 6, 2012 in Newton, MA.

  • MA Chapter supports Extreme Home MakeOver Edition in Springfield

    MA Chapter gives back!  Over 40 members volunteerd to serve at the Massage Tent at Extreme Home MakeOver Edition in Springfield.  One participant, !st VP Sister Pat Dowler shared, "It was an amazing event...such heartfelt sharing by all volunteers! Move-that-bus!
