The 2026 AMTA Assembly of Delegates, also known as the AOD, is getting underway, and your Massachusetts Chapter Delegates want to hear from you.
The Assembly of Delegates is one of the ways AMTA members have a voice in the future of our association and our profession. Each year, Delegates from chapters across the country come together during the AMTA National Convention to discuss topics submitted by AMTA members.
This year, the AMTA National Convention will be held in Denver, Colorado, August 27–29, 2026.
The AOD is not where policy is voted on in the same way a board meeting functions. Instead, it is a national member discussion forum. Delegates listen, gather member feedback, discuss important issues, and bring forward the voices, concerns, ideas, and experiences of members from their chapters.
That means your input matters. Your thoughts help Massachusetts Delegates better represent Massachusetts massage therapists in the national conversation.
This year’s Assembly of Delegates discussion topics are:
1. Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology
How can massage therapists responsibly integrate artificial intelligence and emerging technology into practice while maintaining ethical standards and client-centered care?
2. Chapter Mandatory Deliverables
Should Chapter Mandatory Deliverables, as stated in AMTA policy, be revised to better reflect what is important to members and what they value?
3. The Role of Delegates Within the Chapter
How can chapters more effectively utilize Delegates throughout the year to strengthen communication between members, Chapter Leadership, and National, while also giving Delegates a clearer and more active role within the Chapter?
We are asking Massachusetts members to take a few minutes to read the attached discussion documents and think about how these topics connect to your experience as a massage therapist, business owner, employee, educator, student, or AMTA member.
A few questions to consider:
- How has AI or emerging technology already affected your practice, communication, documentation, marketing, or client care?
- What concerns do you have about technology, ethics, privacy, or professionalism in massage therapy?
- What chapter services, resources, or activities matter most to you as a member?
- What should AMTA chapters be focusing on to provide meaningful support and value to members?
- Have you ever wondered what Delegates actually do?
- Would a clearer Delegate role help members feel more connected to the Chapter and to AMTA National?
