John Vines is presented his NATIONAL HUMANITARIAN AWARD at a dinner in his honor during National Massage Therapy Awareness Week

From 1st VP Sr Pat Dowler:

"I had the wonderful opportunity to present John his AMTA National Humanitarian Award at the BOSTON LIVING CENTER , the place at which John volunteers . His parents and a cousin along with the staff, volunteers and members of the Boston Living Center were present in total support of this dedicated, compassionate gentleman. The respect, support and love for John were most evident. Posters adorned the Center, thanking John for his time and talent and for the person he is. The dining room was filled to capacity as we shared stories, enjoyed our meal together. When the time for the presentation came, the room was silenced. Introductions were given and then I was invited to the podium. I shared the script we sent to the National Awards Committee for consideration, and then I presented John with his award. A rousing round of applause occurred.

John also received a Commendation from the US Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts and a letter from Martha Coakley, Attorney General, MA.

I asked John to stay at the podium with me as I presented the Boston Living Center with a check for $500 from the AMTA Mass Chapter in John’s name. I have never seen so many smiles and signs of appreciation! John knew about this donation, but kept it a secret. What no one in that room expected was the next announcement ~ Angie Patrick, from Massage Warehouse, was so moved with John’s story, she donated a new massage table to the Living Center, in John’s name. Again much gratitude was expressed by the staff, volunteers and members to John, to the AMTA Mass Chapter and to Angie Patrick at Massage Warehouse.

Anyone who wishes to learn more about the Boston Living Center ~ a Center that is open to those who are affected by HIV/Aids, that serves as a place of solace, learning, healing, growing and nourishment may visit their web site www.bostonlivingcenter.org.

I have never been so proud to be a part of such a wonderful, compassionate, professional group as the AMTA Mass Chapter as I was this evening!
