Since 1980, the PMC has contributed $547 million to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. Since 2007, 100% of every dollar raised has gone directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.

In 2016, the PMC donated $47 million, generating more than 50 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s revenue. Over 600 cancer survivors rode and volunteered among 6,000 cyclists and were supported by 4,000 volunteers last year.

Massage Therapy is a HUGE part of the PMC Event. We need your help to reach this year’s goal of marshaling a force of at least 150 Massage Therapists to provide 15-minute massages the cyclists at the Maritime Academy (MMA) in Bourne, MA.

PMC provides air conditioned work space, yummy food all day long, and breaks! Tables are needed, but the PMC has some that have been donated to use. All lotions and sport massage necessities are also provided.

Lodging is provided for massage volunteers at MMA on Friday night if you want to drive down early for a night on Buzzards Bay! Transportation on Saturday to/from Boston is also available. If you drive yourself, rock-star parking given to MT Volunteers on-site at MMA. They even have a golf cart (with a designated volunteer driver) to take your table to the massage room!

This is an event that will stay in your heart forever. As one first year volunteer said last year, “The was one of the BEST experiences I have ever had! Everyone was helpful. I left there completely exhausted but so happy I did it! I will gladly come back year after year.”

PMC also has a unique Oncology Sports Massage Volunteer team! It’s especially helpful for PMC’s Living Proof riders, who have survived cancer or are currently in-treatment and riding the event. If you have had any advanced oncology massage training, please let us know at registration.
