Greetings from Your New Chapter President!
Hello AMTA-MA Chapter members,
After years of being a member of the AMTA MA-Chapter (since 1985), for the first time I have the honor of writing a President’s Message to you. Yes, I am your newly elected Chapter President.
It’s pretty exciting to be the President but it’s also exciting to be a member of the AMTA. We are a very active chapter and are more than happy to help you. We are, as you know, a member-driven organization. You have the opportunity to volunteer and get involved with committees – continuing education, law and legislation issues, and more. You have the chance to get to know some great massage therapists and learn new ways of doing massage and business. It is our goal over the next few years to build a strong mentorship program, which can help you with everything from business questions to “What can I do about (insert ethics/professionalism questions, etc. here)?”. We have continuing education and a chapter meeting coming up in September. There’s a lot more happening and we will keep you updated through our website, newsletters and emails. If you know of any massage therapists who do not receive our emails or may not know about our website, I encourage you to share it with them: www.massamta.org. They can sign up to receive emails there.
I read some time ago this simple, yet profound statement: “We take action based on our experiences and knowledge.” I don’t remember where I saw this as I would love to give that book credit. So it is clear that we need to gain more knowledge and experiences in order to take new action. There are things out there that you have wanted to do; options that you didn’t even know you could do, and some that you don’t even know exist that can change your life – often for the better. Being President is certainly a new action for me. It will be a challenge yet I am confident it will be rewarding. In large part, this is due to the amazing Chapter Leadership that is made up of our Board of Directors, Program Directors, Delegates and Volunteers, all of whom you can find here: http://www.massamta.org/board-of-directors/. Please get acquainted with them. They are wonderful people!
What do you hope for? What are some of your goals? What kinds of massage questions do you have? How can we enhance your massage career? Let’s take action together to bring new experiences and knowledge into your lives.
It is my honor and privilege to serve you all and I welcome and look forward to hearing from you. Feel free to email me at greghurdlmt@gmail.com.
