What is Coaching Anyway?

Published: April 30, 2015

Coaching is an action and results oriented collaborative process that supports people in getting from where they are to where they want to be.

The coach is an objective listener, a non-judgmental ally focused entirely on the client and their agenda.

Coaching involves a process of inquiry, momentum-building questions that help focus the client as they tap into their strengths, values, skills, experiences, wisdom, knowledge, and resources, and confront self-defeating thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that keep them stuck. Using this awareness the client can move forward, one step at a time, with greater ease.

One big reason people seek the support of a coach is accountability: coaches hold clients accountable for doing the things they say they will do.

And, research shows that coaching builds self-reliance, and leads to outcomes far more sustainable than telling a client what they “should” do, and how to do it. Those are powerful outcomes.

You have an opportunity to sample coaching at the AMTA-MA IDEA Conference, Sunday, May 3rd, to bring a current challenge that you want support in moving through, perhaps even walking away with your next step.

Sessions are limited, and filled on a first come, first served basis.

You can sign up for the Coaches Corner by contacting Brianne: brianne@theMassageEntrepreneur.com. Include your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice for your coaching session. Sessions start at 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30, and run for 25 minutes. Sessions are booked on a first-come, first served basis. Be sure to include your phone number when e mailing your request. For cancellations please contact Brianne via email. NOTE: If you need to cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled session, please call 617-285-9095.

P.S. Coaching is not therapy; behavior is not analyzed, and does not involve healing emotional wounds from the past. Coaching presumes that clients are in a good place mentally and emotionally.
