Why We Need Your Voice: The Power of Discussion Topics & Proposed Ideas
by Kelley Silva
AMTA-MA Chapter Delegate
As a vibrant community of massage professionals, our strength lies in shared knowledge, insight, and passion. One of the most critical ways the massage therapy profession grows and evolves is through AMTA’s Discussion Topics and Proposed Ideas for Position Statements submitted by AMTA members.
Delegates representing 51 AMTA Chapters convened at last year's Assembly of Delegates meeting in Tampa, FL. Among the topics discussed were Modality Definitions and a proposed position statement on massage therapy for Abdominopelvic Pain.
Submitted proposals will be chosen to be discussed and voted on at the Assembly of Delegates Annual Meeting, which will be held on August 20th this year in Dallas.
Why Discussion Topics Matter
Discussion topics open the door to meaningful conversation. These discussions can lead to deeper understanding, collaboration, and even innovative solutions.
The importance of proposing a Position Statement
When you propose a position statement, you help guide the direction of the massage therapy profession. These statements can influence policy, enhance public understanding, and support advocacy efforts that protect and uplift the massage therapy profession.
Your Input is Essential
Your thoughts are invaluable to us. No idea is too small. By submitting a Discussion Topic or Proposed Position Statement, your voice directly influences the direction of our field.
The Assembly of Delegates Advisory Committee (AODAC) needs your Proposed Idea for a Position Statement and/or Discussion Topic Submission by May 14, 2025.
You can submit proposals and discussion topics anytime throughout the year. The May 14th deadline only applies to proposals intended for discussion at the Annual Assembly of Delegates in-person meeting in Dallas, TX, this August.
You can find the steps you need to take to submit your discussion topic or proposed idea on the members area of the AMTA website. Click here to go to that page. You will need to log into your AMTA account.
